Sorry for the lengthy response, but its things like this that keep people in constant controversy. This narcissistic attitude towards something as intangible as religions and philosophy is the reason behind the chaos and violence we see in this world. The belief that one way of thinking is right while all else is wrong (this image even goes as far as suggesting Christian thinking is silly by using the word wizard) is the cause of some of the most horrific events in history (9/11, Holocaust, medieval slaughtering of countless ‘heretics’, etc). I understand why some people agree with the message of this image, but I don’t understand when those people consider themselves to be peacemakers and open-minded individuals.

This picture is not and will not be the reason for the next Holocaust.
Chances are whoever made this is not planning on crashing a plane into the Vatican nor is she preparing for an attack on science (well maybe… -joke).
I think you’re pointing out that everyday tyranny occurs when self-hugging people live according to their values.
But you’ve implied that your value of tranquility (avoiding conflict and stress)- and possibly acceptance- is ‘better’ than the value of power.
Status, Influence, acceptance, romance— are all values, and none have proven to be any better or any worse than the other. But we seem content to label them as superficial, or fake.
I understand your point that man needs to just let it be. But people are fundamentally motivated by different things. This is just an idealist portraying his view of the debate between theists and atheists. Your post is as much of an attack on idealism and competitiveness as it is on tranquility. Do you really think you’re fundamentally right?

I misunderstood the poster, I didn’t realize it was a response to another poster.
I’m in no way saying that the person who made this poster is going to be responsible for the next Holocaust. I’m saying that the thinking behind the jokes of this poster is the same thinking that could eventually lead to drastic events such as the Holocaust. The style of attack the creators of these posters chose was different from the style of attack Islamic extremists chose on September 11, 2001; it’s the same thinking that other religions/philosophies ideas are skewed and basically incorrect, but the form of the attack is displayed differently.

I understand that all values are of equal value. The problem I have is when people going after power (or people who promote the message of this poster) consider themselves to be open-minded, peaceful people. I’m fully aware that my idea of thinking is as uniquely right as terrorists way of thinking, but it’s mostly the hypocrisy of atheists who consider themselves humanist while at the same time promoting this poster that bothers me.
